PRF Regenerative Treatments
The most natural approach to skin rejuvenation available. No synthetic ingredients, and no foreign substances. Just your own biology, concentrated and put to work.
100% Natural
PRF is derived entirely from your own blood, with no additives, anticoagulants, or synthetic ingredients of any kind.
Some patients want real results but are not comfortable putting synthetic products into their bodies. PRF, or Platelet Rich Fibrin, is the answer to that. It uses a small sample of your own blood, processed to concentrate the growth factors your body uses naturally to heal and regenerate tissue, then injected back into areas where your skin needs support. All PRF treatments at Element are performed under the direct oversight of our board-certified dermatologist, and we serve patients across Sartell, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, and Central Minnesota.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
PRF treatments at Element Dermatology are performed under the direct oversight of Dr. Barry LaBine, a board-certified dermatologist with deep knowledge of how skin responds to regenerative treatments. Here's what your appointment involves:
- Your Consultation: We start by understanding your goals and reviewing your health history to confirm you're a good candidate. PRF can be used on its own or combined with microneedling for deeper penetration of growth factors, and we'll recommend the right approach for your specific concerns.
- The Treatment: A small blood sample is drawn from your arm, centrifuged to concentrate the platelet-rich fibrin layer, and then injected into the target areas or applied topically alongside microneedling. No additives are introduced at any stage. When necessary, a topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, and most patients find the procedure very manageable.
- Results and Follow-Up: Results develop gradually over two to three months as your body's regenerative process takes effect. Most patients complete an initial series of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, then maintain with one to two sessions per year.
PRF pairs particularly well with SkinPen microneedling because it creates microchannels in the skin that allow PRF to penetrate more deeply. This amplifies the regenerative effect of both treatments. The combination is especially effective for acne scarring, photoaging, and overall skin renewal.

Frequently Asked Questions About PRF Regenerative Treatments
What is the difference between PRF and PRP?
expand_more
Both PRF and PRP are regenerative treatments derived from your own blood, but they differ in how they are processed and how they work. PRP requires an anticoagulant to prevent clotting during processing, meaning the final product is not entirely from your body. It releases growth factors quickly, but the effect tapers off relatively fast. PRF requires no additives; it’s processed without anticoagulants, so the product is 100% from you. The fibrin matrix in PRF releases growth factors slowly over time, producing longer-lasting and more sustained results. We transitioned from PRP to PRF because the clinical evidence supports better long-term outcomes.
What can PRF treat?
expand_more
PRF can be used to address fine lines and wrinkles, under-eye hollows and dark circles, uneven skin tone and texture, sun damage and photoaging, acne scarring, and hair thinning or hair loss. It works by stimulating your body's natural collagen production and tissue regeneration from within, so results develop gradually and look natural rather than dramatic.
Is PRF safe?
expand_more
PRF has an excellent safety profile because it’s derived entirely from your own blood. There’s no risk of allergic reaction to foreign substances, and the risk of infection is very low when performed in a clinical setting using sterile technique. Because the treatment uses your own biology, it’s one of the most well-tolerated regenerative options available.
How many PRF treatments will I need?
expand_more
Most patients complete an initial series of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Results develop over two to three months as collagen production increases and tissue regeneration progresses. Maintenance treatments once or twice a year can help sustain and build on your results over time. We’ll give you a personalized recommendation based on your specific goals and your skin's response to the initial series.
