Halo Laser Treatment
Two lasers in one treatment. Halo combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single pass to address both the surface and deeper layers of your skin, delivering results that typically require multiple treatments elsewhere.
One
Treatment is all most patients need. Halo delivers the results of multiple sessions in a single appointment, making it one of the most efficient resurfacing investments available.
Most laser treatments make you choose between going gentle and accepting incremental results or going aggressive and accepting significant downtime. Halo was designed to eliminate that tradeoff. As the first hybrid fractional laser, it combines two wavelengths in a single pass to address both the surface and the deeper layers of your skin simultaneously, producing results that would otherwise require multiple treatments. Halo is our most intensive laser resurfacing option and the treatment we recommend for patients ready to make a meaningful, lasting change in the quality of their skin.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
All Halo treatments at Element Dermatology are performed under the direct oversight of Dr. Barry LaBine, a board-certified dermatologist. Here's what you can expect from your appointment and recovery:
- Your Consultation: We review your skin concerns, your skin type, and your schedule. The recovery period is real, and timing your treatment around it matters. We'll also discuss the depth and density settings for each wavelength, which are customized independently based on your specific goals and how much downtime you can accommodate.
- The Treatment: A topical numbing cream is applied 90 minutes before the laser portion begins. Plan for a total appointment of around three hours and fifteen minutes. The Halo handpiece passes across the treatment area delivering both wavelengths simultaneously. Most patients describe the sensation as around a 3 out of 10 with numbing.
- Results and Follow-Up: Day one brings redness, warmth, and mild swelling. Days two and three bring a bronzed appearance and sandpaper texture as treated cells rise to the surface. By days four to seven the outer layer sheds and the Halo glow begins to emerge. Most patients feel comfortable in public by day seven. Deeper collagen remodeling continues for weeks to months after that.
Halo is a first-of-its-kind hybrid fractional laser. What makes it unique is that it delivers two different laser wavelengths simultaneously in a single pass across the skin. Most laser treatments use a single wavelength and therefore target only one layer of your skin. Halo does both, which is why a single treatment produces results that most other platforms require multiple sessions to achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions About Halo
What makes Halo different from other laser treatments?
expand_more
Halo is the first hybrid fractional laser, meaning it delivers two wavelengths simultaneously in a single treatment pass: one ablative and one non-ablative. Ablative wavelengths target the skin's surface, removing damaged cells and improving texture and pigmentation. Non-ablative wavelengths penetrate deeper to stimulate collagen without removing the surface. Most laser platforms use one or the other. Halo uses both at once, which is why it can achieve in a single treatment what other platforms typically require multiple sessions to produce.
How does Halo compare to Moxi?
expand_more
Moxi and Halo are on opposite ends of the resurfacing spectrum. Moxi is a gentle, non-ablative treatment with three to five days of recovery and subtle, cumulative results built over a series of sessions. Halo is a more aggressive hybrid treatment with seven to ten days of social downtime and dramatic results from a single session. The right choice depends on your goals, your schedule, and how much improvement you’re looking for. Many patients start with Moxi and progress to Halo when they're ready for a more intensive result, then return to Moxi for ongoing maintenance afterward.
Is one Halo treatment really enough?
expand_more
For most patients, yes, but it depends on many factors. We’ll help you determine how many treatments will help you achieve your goal. Because Halo addresses both the surface and the deeper layers simultaneously, a single well-calibrated treatment produces results that would typically require multiple sessions with other laser platforms. The deeper collagen remodeling also continues for weeks to months after treatment, so the results you see at two weeks are not the final result; they continue to improve. Some patients with more extensive skin concerns choose to have a second treatment one to two years later to build on their results.
Who is a good candidate for Halo?
expand_more
Halo is best suited for patients with moderate to significant sun damage, texture concerns, pigmentation issues, or acne scarring who are ready to commit to a more intensive treatment and the associated recovery period. It’s also a good option for patients who have been doing maintenance treatments like Moxi or BBL Hero and want to make a more dramatic improvement. Good candidates are generally in good skin health, not pregnant, and not on medications that affect skin healing. We’ll thoroughly review your health history and skin during your consultation to confirm that Halo is the right fit for you.
