Men's skin is different. It’s thicker, produces more oil, and takes the daily mechanical stress of shaving in a way most facial treatments aren’t designed to account for. The Men’s Facial is built around these realities, addressing the specific concerns that affect men most: congestion, post-shave irritation, redness, roughness, and the kind of dullness that builds up when skin care has been low on the priority list. The treatment is straightforward, and the outcome is skin that looks healthy and well-maintained, not treated.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Our estheticians perform all Men's Facial treatments at Element Dermatology under the direct oversight of Dr. Barry LaBine, a board-certified dermatologist. Here are the three steps that make up all of our Men’s Facials:

  • Step One, Deep Cleanse: A thorough cleanse removes surface oil, debris, and buildup from the skin's surface and pores. Men's skin tends to produce more sebum than women's, making a proper deep cleanse the foundation for everything that follows.
  • Step Two, Enzyme Peel with Steam: An enzyme peel is applied to gently exfoliate and dissolve dead skin cells while steam softens the skin and opens the pores. The combination addresses the rough texture that builds up with daily shaving and environmental exposure.
  • Step Three, Cooling Cucumber Mask: A soothing cucumber mask is applied to hydrate, calm, and rebalance the skin. Particularly effective for reducing post-shave redness, irritation, and the inflammation that can accompany acne-prone or rosacea-affected skin. The treatment finishes with a personalized serum and product selection tailored to your skin type and goals.

Men are statistically more likely to develop skin cancer than women, and less likely to have regular skin checks. If you haven’t had a skin cancer screening recently, or if you’ve noticed any changes to moles, spots, or skin texture, our clinical team can book you a separate medical appointment for a thorough skin exam.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Men’s Facial

Do I need to do anything to prepare before my appointment?

No special preparation is required. If you shave regularly, try to avoid shaving on the morning of your appointment, as freshly shaved skin can be more sensitive during the treatment. Come with a clean face if you can, but if you are coming straight from work or an activity, your esthetician will take care of the cleansing at the start of the appointment.

Will anyone be able to tell I had something done?

Not at all. The Men's Facial leaves no visible sign that anything was done. Your skin will look healthy and well-maintained, not treated. You can return to work, a meeting, or any other activity right after your appointment with no explanation required. Mild, temporary pinkness is possible after the treatment, but it typically resolves within an hour.

Is this treatment good for rosacea?

Yes. Rosacea is one of the most common concerns we treat in male patients at Element Dermatology. The Men's Facial's calming mask step is particularly well-suited to rosacea-prone skin, and the product selection is adjusted to avoid any ingredients that might trigger a flare. For patients with more significant rosacea, we may also recommend BBL Hero or Aerolase as complementary treatments.

I’ve never had a facial before. What should I know?

The Men's Facial is a straightforward and comfortable experience. You’ll lie on a treatment bed while your esthetician works through the three steps. There's nothing invasive and nothing that requires any particular reaction from you. Most first-time patients are surprised by how relaxing it is. Your esthetician will walk you through what they are doing at each step, so nothing catches you off guard.
