What to Expect During Your Treatment

  • Your Consultation: Every treatment starts with a thorough conversation about your goals and facial anatomy. Where possible, we use VISIA skin imaging to see beneath the surface, so our recommendations are genuinely tailored to you rather than based on a formula.
  • The Treatment: Injections are made with a very fine needle and take 10 to 20 minutes in total. Most patients describe the sensation as a small pinch. There's no downtime, and most people return to their normal activities immediately. We offer both Botox Cosmetic and Daxxify. Daxxify is our preferred neuromodulator. It's peptide-based, sets in faster, and lasts six months or longer for most patients, roughly twice as long as traditional Botox. Both options are available, and we'll recommend the one that best fits your goals and timeline.
  • Maintenance and Follow-Up: We recommend a follow-up two weeks after your first treatment to assess your results and make any adjustments. Neuromodulators aren’t permanent, which is part of what makes them a good starting point. If you love your results, we maintain them. If you want to adjust anything, we can have that conversation at your follow-up.

Botox and other neuromodulators temporarily block the nerve signals that cause specific facial muscles to contract. When those muscles relax, the skin above them smooths out, reducing the appearance of lines caused by repeated movement. The effect is not permanent; muscles gradually regain their activity over three to six months, depending on the product used, at which point a follow-up treatment can maintain your results.

Will I look frozen or unnatural?

Not at Element Dermatology. The frozen or overdone look results from applying too much product without enough attention to individual facial anatomy. Our approach is deliberately conservative. We use precise amounts in specific locations, tailored to your face's movement and what you want to preserve. Our goal is for you to look like yourself, refreshed and rested. Most patients find that people notice they look well without being able to identify what changed.

How long does Botox last?

Results from Botox typically last three to four months, and Daxxify performs similarly for most patients. Individual results vary based on the area treated, the amount used, your muscle activity, and your metabolism. Over time, with consistent treatment, many patients find their results last a little longer as the treated muscles gradually become less active.

How long does Botox take to work?

Most patients begin to notice results within three to four days of treatment, with full results visible at the two-week mark. Daxxify tends to kick in a little faster for many patients. If you have an event coming up, we recommend booking at least two weeks in advance to see your complete result.
